Our history

Balyfa a/s has gone through an educational development over the past eight decades, which has helped make us a valuable partner to existing and future customers. 80 years of servicing customers requires great commitment with constant focus on delvelopment and rethinking solutions and our approach to the challenges our customers’ face, and we are well equipped to tackle future challenges. We believe the future holds great promise, and with our current set-up, with production in both Denmark and Hungary we are ready for even the greatest challenges.

1931

Balyfa is established in Copenhagen, Denmark. Production began with the manufacturing of zippers for tobacco pouches. Our name is an amalgamation of the words Baltisk lynlåsfabrik (Baltic Zipper Factory) and indicates the early international mindset of the company’s founder.

1934

The first actual springs are produced on semi manual equipment.

1962

Balyfa's founder takes an important decision about basing a major part of the production on German machinery from the manufacturer Bihler GmbH. Focus on equipment from Bihler GmbH has since proved a pivotal decision.

2001

Balyfa a/s moves to bigger offices just north of Copenhagen but remains in close proximity to Copenhagen International Airport.

2006

Balyfa a/s is sold via a management buyout to two employees who wanted to carry on the company and who had discovered its great and continued potential.

2007

Following the take-over, a string of strategic initiatives are taken to move the company forward and to address increasing globalisation. This was accomplished by establishing a subsidiary in Hungary – a country centrally and ideally placed, with an excellent and loyal workforce. This was immediately followed by the purchase of the competing company Albuk A/S.

2008

Balyfa buys the company Sanio, and the majority of production is moved to Hungary.

2009

The company in Hungary moves to a brand new building, which is purchased with 10,000 square metres of land – creating the framework for future expansions.

2010

Taking its cue from the factory in Hungary, the work towards certification begins. The result was that Balyfa Hungary Kft was ISO/TS 16949 certified in 2010, which was an important step in connection with the growing customer base in the automotive segment.

2011

In continuation of the certification in Hungary, the factory in Denmark is also ISO/TS 16949 certified. Later that year, part of the company is sold to CFP Group A/S, which will be instrumental in further developing the company with their infusion of capital and knowhow.

2012

Expansion of storage and production capacity in Hungary. ISO 14001 certificate for the plant in Hungary.

2013

Setting up the logistic center in Hungary. Establishment of a representative office in Czech Republic.

2014

Partnership with Carrab Brake Parts. OHSAS 18001 certificate for the factory in Hungary. 

2015

Balyfa a/s moves to new and well-lit offices in close proximity to the motorway and Copenhagen Airport as a natural progression and a part of our development strategy.

2016

We have recently moved to new and brighter offices in Prague, and welcome customers - new and old - to visit.
